I once read an article about compounding, it fascinated me so much that it became a theme for me in life and new years resolution. In the article there was a talk on how something just shot off the roof in just a few years or months, don’t remember the details but I just recall the answer was, the whole time, the item at question was compounding. That widen my mind, compounding can be heard used in the financial world, where they talk about compound interest. Some while back I was reading up on retirement annuity and the term was splashed everywhere, that it would be the magic that makes your RA grow and compound interest will be a catalyst in enjoying your money in retirement. Putting the financial perspective aside, I was more interested in the human application of this compounding phenomena.
A unit of human nature compounding example that I have long stretched came from a movie called “Back to the future”, in the movie, one thing that stood out the most , was the fact that, at all cost we must not change anything in the future when teleport to the future, cause this will change the course of the future in the present and the future you saw will change drastically, exponentially or even at a compounded rate. Sitting on this fact I encountered a motivational video where the speaker stated that people are so concerned with not changing the future, but they don’t realize that small habit change in the present, can produce fruitfulness in the future. This has led me to formulate that individual compounding is the little things we can change now in the present, which can yield significant outcomes in the future, more like compounding interest.
Compounding and EphratahI firmly believe in Eric Thomas when he resonated that All men are created equal, some work harder in the preseason. ( my version just says, all man are created equal and some work hard in four seasons), from there on I draw out that just like ants we must have some season we work hard, compounding in a way, that we work on our self, which is the most important work, even you don’t get paid for it(Big Sean). Throughout all the seasons we worked, our ant nature of letting harsh season pass while we feed on other seasons gathering of food will be substituted by us been Fruitful.
EphratahEphratah is such a profound word that I also adapted to be a theme for me this year. Adopted from the bible, I would amend our small works in the present also to give off radiant of some fruitfulness, in every effort of compounding that an individual generates, there needs to be some fruitfulness to the labor. It doesn’t have to be a big sparkle, but must be a sense of measure or direction to some positive effects of compounding, this will ensure we pointing to the right direction in compounding to be more successful in the future.
This year I challenged myself to be compounding and Ephratah at the same time and will be releasing my all in all master plan, watch the space. … I Am a software developer, wear me softly individual, wear me softly.
